EU may ease visa rules for Indians

  • June 30th, 2012
The European Union (EU) is considering the possibility to simplify visa requirements of visitors from India in order to promote tourism.

"European Union desires more flexible (visa) rules for tourists coming from India", said Antonio Tajani, Vice-President, Industry and Entrepreneurship, European Commission.

Additionally he added that the EU would be keen to organize meetings to promote tourism between India and the EU and suggested airlines could consider offering reduced prices to encourage tourists to travel off-season.

The discussion about the potential easing of visa rules was part of current talks regarding a proposed free trade agreement between EU and India.
